Your Friend Has Panic Attacks – What You Can Do

Do you think a friend or relative in your life is experiencing anxiety attacks?  Do you need to know how to help someone with panic attacks?  It is entirely likely that the person themselves will not even recognize they’ve got an issue, nevertheless the most effective thing to do is to educate yourself as much as you can about panic attacks and be there to aid and help your friend.

Anxiety attacks are usually scary and exhausting.  Many of us have to deal with them regularly.  Often times, they truly feel self-conscious or humiliated by their issue and may even refrain from speaking with their close family and friends.  They may typically use great measures in order to keep the condition unknown from other people, which only multiplies their anxiousness as they begin keeping track of every predicament and situation.

Possibly your cousin is frightened to contact you on the telephone.  Perhaps your friend is not answering questions in the class room because she is afraid of criticism.  Or your sister might be afraid of driving a car because of the anxiety it stirs up in her.

To many, these situations appear easy enough, however, for anyone coping with a panic disorder, these situations can become hefty challenges that might make them start sweating, a racing heart beat, problems breathing, and even passing out and full-blown anxiety attacks.

If you are trying to learn how to help someone with panic attacks, the first thing you want to do is get educated.  Education is the easiest approach of supporting people in your life that may well go through such challenges.  Even if you simply understand a small amount, they might come to feel more understood by you and get more prepared to talk about the situation with you more freely.  Please, make certain to be non-judgmental and supportive.

Establish a handful of rules with the friend or family member.  For example, if you realize they end up getting restless in crowds, don’t propose visiting a crowded diner for dinner.  This might place them on the spot and make them feel uneasy.  In contrast, if you have decided to make an attempt to help them with their issue, you could propose going to a crowded diner and offer to be there for assistance while they face their fears.

Another great strategy to assist them might be to invite them to go to a tai-chi or meditation training course that you might currently be doing.  These courses will show individuals with panic disorders easy methods to better deal with their thinking and allow them to stay peaceful when they’re placed in a worrying predicament.

I hope you’ve got a better broad understanding of how to help someone with panic attacks.  Regardless of how you are probably trying to help, it’s utterly vital that you first and foremost be supportive and compassionate toward your friend’s problem.  Do not be judgemental or neglectful of it.  Anxiety attacks can be a very distressing thing to go through, but with your guidance and support, your friend could be more certain to get well fast.
